​​I am a dedicated breeder of these fascinating invertebrates which have 

gained popularity with fish keepers in recent years. Having kept many large

and small scale Aquariums in my time, I began to realise the importance of 

having ecological set ups as close as possible to those found in nature.

This of course means not only having plants and an efficient biological

filtration in use, but also invertebrate scavengers that can process large

amounts of fish excreta and decaying plant matter, which otherwise would

clog up mechanical filtration units. As with all things in nature, balance is the

key. Having dozens of any one type of creature in an enclosed system will do

more harm than good. Hence why you might have read that Mystery Snails are more trouble than they're worth, which is simply untrue. Keeping one mature snail for every 20 litres of aquarium water works nicely to keep the ecological chain in balance.

Here at Mystery Snails Melbourne, I run a small operation, able to produce 300 - 500 large size specimens every 3-4 months. I take great pride in being able to produce good quality specimens, paying close attention to shell growth and striving to achieve striation free snails. Recently I have invested time and effort into Calcium Hydroxide delivery systems which achieve optimum shell growth and appearance. These involving processes must monitored very closely, several times a day pH tests are performed, along with acidifying waste removal and a regimented feeding program. I assure you, that it is my dedication to these processes that allow me to breed them in large numbers safely and to a commercial quality. When you purchase my snails, you purchase a specimen that has had the love and attention required to allow you to enjoy the final result without all the fuss.

Currently MSM  is going through a period of operational expansion, and although I would love to supply every Pet Store in Melbourne immediately, this is simply not possible right now. Therefore at this stage, I am happy to take only future orders for large numbers required by a Commercial buyer, with pricing to be negotiated on a case by case basis. For private buyers, this should not be an issue.
